An Invitation to work in China
Fuping is one hour away from Xian. The excavation of the Terracotta Army shows the long history of ceramic art in the area. In 2008 MJSchoedel-Mueller and WB Nowka followed an invitation to Fuping / China to work there as "artist-in-residence". At the Fule International Ceramic Art Museum they spend 6 weeks working on site. The objects that they could realize remained in the collection of the hosts and are displayed in the museum, which is specifically devoted to Germany, showing examples of German contemporary ceramic art.
The Fule International Ceramic Art Museum is a unique project for international cultural cooperation. More than 150 artists from around the world have been invited there to represent their countries in China while making chinese culture and way of life known better in the world. With realizing this project the Fule Group shows that ceramic art is not only a scale of the cultural level of the past, but can play also vital role in the cultural definition of the present
